A proud expression of Canadian identity and pride, the set-exclusive 50-cent coin features an eye-catching mosaic and a pop of patriotic (red) and (white) colour. Though each icon is “wildly” different from the next, they all serve as symbols of Canada and the Canadian experience, represented by the different elements that form the most famous Canadian emblem of all: the maple leaf.
As we focus our attention on commemorating the reign of Queen Elizabeth II (1952-2022), the Mint will not be issuing any 2023-dated Canadian circulation coins featuring both the traditional reverse designs and an obverse featuring Queen Elizabeth II. Instead, we struck a limited collector’s edition for each of the six Canadian coin denominations ($2, $1, 50 cent (special edition), 25 cent, 10 cent, 5 cent) and you get one of each in this special set.
