Description
The 2020 Canadian Collectors Coins, Volume 2, records and lists over 40 years of non-circulating legal tender coins issued by the Royal Canadian Mint. Commemorative coins are issued to commemorate a particular personage, event — either historic or current — or a place. Such coins have a distinct design with reference to the occasion for which they are issued. Many coins of this category are collector items only, but a great number were also issued for circulation to promote major national event such as the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games. Vast number of thematic coins highlighting monuments, sites, historical personalities, endangered species, or just wild species common to a specific area, are also part of this commemorative mix. This is the 10th edition of the Canadian Collectors Coins. The catalogue continues to grow in size as it captures the numerous collector coins being issued each year by the Royal Canadian Mint. At a hefty 1.40 kilograms, this year’s catalogue features 596 pages covering all collector coins issued by the RCM up to May 2019.
