In its preface, the authors write:
At an impressive 494 pages, “Yes, this is a much thicker book than the last one. One reason is the new sections. Another is, of course, the large number of new issues over the past eighteen years. And we have continued our liberal use of illustrations. This is a visual hobby, and it’s more fun to see things. We have also found that visual points of comparison bring new varieties to light, when collectors see that something they own is not quite the same as what is pictured. In the Seventh edition, we used illustrations of items (or of item details) to show differences or varieties where they exist, and this has helped unearth a number of new discoveries now in this edition.”
